A $700M New Development proposed for corner of Carothers and McEwen
January 15, 2019
The development would go on the corner of East McEwen Drive and Carothers Parkway, according to plans submitted to the City of Franklin. Currently, the vacant 22 acres of land is surrounded by Franklin Park and Ovation. Construction would happen in six phases.
For their Aureum project, SouthStar and Chartwell Hospitality submitted plans to the city of Franklin calling for:
- 700 hotel rooms, including a higher-end hotel at the corner of Carothers and McEwen
- 750,000 square feet of office space
- 480 residential units (likely apartments)
- 100,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space
The project would be built in six phases of construction, according to plans. The first round of work would be a limited-service hotel and “loft” office space, on the western edge of the property.
