Nashville International Airport’s first on-site hotel is preparing for takeoff.

BNA’s Hilton hotel is nearing completion and is set to open next month.

Franklin-based Chartwell Hospitality has partnered with Ohio-based investment firm Rockbridge Capital to develop the nine-story Hilton Hotel which sits atop a five-level parking garage.

The Hilton BNA Nashville Airport Terminal will offer 298 rooms, including doubles, kings and seven suites.

The hotel’s decor was inspired by its location — high-end contemporary restaurant Aviators will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner on the main floor. The lobby area also includes a music lounge with a bar, grand piano and coffee shop.

Other features include an expansive rooftop which offers a pool, fire pit and a sky bar with views of the airport and downtown Nashville. The meeting and event spaces will total 16,500 square feet, including an 8,000-square-foot ballroom and event space.

Bill Derbins will serve as general manager for the Hilton Hotel, making this the fifth airport hotel he has managed.

“Every hotel is a little different. I’ve been in brand new ones, and I’ve been in old ones where you’re checking for leaks in the wall with your finger. This really is a beautiful product,” Derbins said.

The hotel is set to open on Feb. 20, nearly two and a half years after the project’s groundbreaking. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held in March.

The hotel and garage are considered a key piece of BNA Vision, a multibillion-dollar expansion project of Nashville’s airport to accommodate the growing air travel in the region. A covered pedestrian bridge connects the hotel and parking garage to the airport’s central terminal.

Chartwell’s cost for the hotel approaches $95 million while Metro Nashville Airport Authority’s cost of the garage and plaza was approximately $82 million.

Chartwell is one of Nashville’s biggest and longest-tenured hotel developers. Earlier this year, the firm announced plans to develop three new hotels throughout Middle Tennessee — in Brentwood, Murfreesboro and Lebanon.

Rockbridge is a hospitality-centered investment firm. The company has invested in properties across 39 states, worth over $10 billion in total capitalization, and has over $3.5 billion in assets under management.
