2015 Development Award Winner

Congratulations to Robert G. Schaedle III and the team at Chartwell Hospitality on winning two impressive awards in 2015: The Lifetime Achievement Award and the Dual Brand Developer of the Year Award.

Robert and Chartwell Hospitality were recognized for their long-time support of Hilton brands and the creative development of several properties in high barrier to entry markets, including the Homewood Suites by Hilton/Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte South Park. Chartwell Hospitality is a fully integrated real estate company specializing in the acquisition, development and management of high-quality focused service and full service hotels. For the dual brand Homewood/Hilton Garden Inn property, Chartwell Hospitality partnered with Tate Realty, who held prime real estate in the South Park area of Charlotte, NC. 

Pride of Ownership
Chartwell Hospitality intentionally seeks strong real estate locations in hotel submarkets with multiple demand generators for both weekday and weekend business. The Homewood Suites by Hilton has 120 rooms and the Hilton Garden Inn, 150 rooms. The development is near the South Park Mall, businesses and restaurants and offers easy access to the airport and popular Uptown area. It’s set to open in Q2 2017.

“We have a great deal of experience developing hotels and have been doing it for almost 20 years. We are very hands-on and engaged in the design and development process, as well as the management and operations of our hotels. We also have a very strong ‘pride of ownership’ on any project we choose to execute,” says Robert.

Robert’s advice for a successful venture is to hire the best people you can. “I have development, finance and operations associates who have been working with me for 20 years. Establish a culture of integrity and honesty, and always try to under-promise and over-deliver on your performance,” he adds.

Robert counts Hilton as a key partner and shares, “The Hilton Team Members we deal with are always first class and work hard to help us on both the franchise development side and the operations side.”
